Project details

In terms of size, scale and complexity this was by far our biggest project to date and the team did an incredible job overcoming constraints, challenges and tight timelines – working hand-in-glove with our partners Rockwool, who supplied and supported us with specific details required to carry out the works, at every stage. 

As with all major projects, the team were flexible in our approach and out of hours works were needed to ensure and support the delivery team, following any last-minute changes or additions to the fabric of the building. All of which were meticulously planned and completed without causing any disruption to the NHS staff or public, in the live hospital environment.  

The new Day Surgery Centre sees the first phase of the client’s comprehensive expansion plan and at the end of the initial contract, a final sign-off inspection was carried out by our experts – compiling a bespoke passive fire register which was shared with the client during the handover process.  

Upon completion of any additional works, the passive fire register was reviewed and updated, and a final version was presented to the client. 

Helix FMS is proud to have provided complete passive fire protection works on the brand new 4,000sqm Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at Castle Hill Hospital. The impressive site spans across one floor, a basement level and mezzanine plant room. 

Having had previous experience delivering major projects for the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, our experts went above and beyond to nurture and maintain positive client relationships. We were fully equipped to manage all passive fire protection aspects of the complex programme and state-of-the-art new facilities.
